No Internet access? No problem. With our Stellar Teller automated phone system, you can perform banking transactions at the push of a button. Visa Debit Card
A Visa Debit Card lets you access your accounts at SAFCU ATMs, as well as any of the over 25,000 Co-Op Network ATMs across the country and is also accepted at millions of merchant locations worldwide. All SAFCU Visa Debit Cards feature a sleek flat from and an EMV chip for added security. Your Visa Debit Card can also be used for purchases at merchants, online, or over the phone. With a Visa Debit Card, you’ll enjoy all the clout and convenience of a credit card without finance charges because the money comes directly out of your checking account. Plus, all Visa transactions are protected against fraud with Visa's zero liability policy when you register with the Verified by Visa program. Once you have your new or replacement debit card, take advantage of easy phone or online activation.
Direct Deposit & Deposit Services
If your employer provides Direct Deposit, your paycheck can be deposited directly into your SAFCU account each payday and give you immediate access to your money. No more trips to the branch or waiting for your check to clear. Your funds are available as soon as they’re deposited! Contact your payroll department for a direct deposit form. Direct deposits require the SAFCU routing and transit number, 322076233, as well as your 10-digit savings account number or 14-digit checking account number. To verify your account number, stop by a branch or call our Member Service Center at (818) 562-3400 or (800) 826-6946 and we'll get you a new one. Overseas members, please call 1-818-562-3400.
If direct deposit is not an option, it’s still easy for you to make deposits to your accounts. Make your deposit using the SAFCU Mobile App, come into any of our Los Angeles area branches, mail your deposit to us directly, or stop by your closest deposit-taking ATM. Overdraft Protection & Courtesy Pay
Overdraft Protection is an optional program that may automatically transfer from your Share Savings account if funds in your Checking account are not sufficient to cover checks, electronic ACH debits, Visa Debit Card transactions, or bill payments drawn against your account.
Overdraft Protection transfers from your Savings account will be made in the exact dollar amount necessary to cover the overdraft and a $3.00 transfer fee. Due to government regulations, you are limited to a maximum of six (6) transfers and/or withdrawals from savings per calendar month. Transfers and/or withdrawals done in the branch, through an ATM or via request in writing do not count towards your monthly limit. Overdraft Protection is not available for Teen Access Accounts or Money Market Accounts.
If there are no available funds in your Share Savings and/or you’ve reached your monthly transfer limit, Courtesy Pay may help keep your account on track. Courtesy Pay allows the credit union to honor and pay your checks, electronic ACH debits, Visa Debit Card transactions, and bill payments drawn against non-sufficient or unavailable/uncollected funds in your Checking Account so that these items are not returned unpaid.
The Courtesy Pay program is optional and the credit union reserves the right to limit the number and dollar amount of items that are paid under Courtesy Pay. The Credit Union does not guarantee payment of any item drawn against insufficient funds. Courtesy Pay is not available for Teen Access Accounts or Money Market Accounts. The Courtesy Pay program may be revoked from any account or discontinued entirely by the credit union at any time without prior notice to you.
Funds will first be transferred from your Share Savings account to cover any non-sufficient funds items payable against your Checking Account. Courtesy Pay is only triggered if you have no funds available in Share Savings or after your monthly savings transfer limit has been reached.
A Courtesy Pay Fee of $25.00 will be charged for each item paid with a maximum of four (4) fees per day. This fee is debited to your Checking Account. Members are required to repay the credit union for all account overdrafts resulting from our decision to pay any item under the Courtesy Pay program, or otherwise, in a timely manner. Account overdrafts are subject to collection and/or other legal remedy if funds to rectify the account overdraft status are not received within ten (10) calendar days. The credit union reserves the right to transfer available funds from your other credit union accounts to cover any account overdraft.
Opting in to Overdraft Protection and Courtesy Pay
All new accounts are automatically opted out of Overdraft Protection and Courtesy Pay by default. If you would like to opt in and have the credit union pay items drawn against non-sufficient funds, complete and return your signed Opt-In form to the credit union. If you do not fill out the form or opt out of the program at any time for any reason, we will return all non-sufficient funds items unpaid. Any declined Visa Debit Card transactions will result in a $5.00 Debit Decline Fee and any returned checks or electronic ACH withdrawals will result in a $30.00 NSF Returned Item Fee.
We know it’s often inconvenient or difficult to obtain foreign currencies before traveling abroad so we've partnered with International Currency Express to help you easily order foreign currencies from anywhere in the United States.
All orders are sent fully insured to your home or office well in advance of your departure, and orders are prepared with a convenient mixture of bank notes so you’ll arrive at your destination prepared for any purchase. Avoid long lines, poor rates and high service charges at airports and hotels and have local money readily available for tips, taxis, and food without having to worry about bank locations, hours of operation and rates of exchange.

SAFCU offers incoming and outgoing wire transfer services so you can send and receive funds electronically between financial institutions. The Credit Union is unable to process outgoing international wire transfers.
To send an outgoing wire transfer, you must complete and sign a Wire Transfer Request Authorization form. You will need to know the name of the receiving bank along with the beneficiary’s name and account number. Please note, members needing to process an outgoing wire must come into the branch. Requests for outgoing wire transfers must be received in the branch by 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time in order to be processed the same day. Wires will not be sent without verification. Once an outgoing wire is processed, it should be received within one business day. There is a $30.00 fee for outgoing wires.
Please note that each financial institution sets its own cutoff times for wire transfers. If you are expecting a wire transfer and it was sent from another financial institution before their cut off time, the funds should be credited to your account no later than 4 p.m. that same day. If your wire was sent after their cut off time, your funds may not be available until the next business day. SAFCU credits all received wires prior to 4 p.m. daily.
To receive an incoming wire transfer, you need to provide your name, the SAFCU routing and transit number 322076233, as well as your 10-digit savings account number or 14-digit checking account number. There is a $10.00 fee assessed on all incoming wires.
The credit union does not accept direct international wires. All international wires must go through an intermediary bank or credit union in the US before being routed to your account here at the Credit Union. This process is all handled on the sender’s side and is not something you would necessarily be aware of or need to set up. There may be fees charged by the sending bank and/or the intermediary bank.
To prevent any service interruption for your Visa Debit Card, please contact SAFCU to notify of us when you will be using your card while traveling. You may come into a branch, call us at (818) 562-3400, send us a notice via our secure online messaging service, or fax a signed written request. This allows us to note your account and saves you the inconvenience of having your debit card blocked due to suspicious transactions while helping to reduce any possible fraudulent activity on your account.
